Meng Huo is a prominent character in Luo Guanzhong's historical novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms. He is depicted as the chieftain of the Southern Barbarians, a powerful and influential figure inhabiting the lands south of Shu Han.
Meng Huo first appears in the novel when Zhuge Liang, Chancellor of Shu Han, leads an expedition south to pacify the rebellious Nanman tribes. He embodies the fierce independence and martial prowess attributed to these tribes.
